A COLLECTION
OF GENERATIVE
TYPOGRAPHIES
GENETYPO
GeneTypo (WIP) is a typographical work-in process project that consists of the arrangement, style and appearance of typefaces through different generative techniques, based on computational creativity and using creative coding. The main aim of the project is to explore different generative techniques and procedural approaches in order to produce generative, experimental, transitional, and virtual typographies.
The project’s approach is to conceive and create each letter as if it were an emergent artwork piece. The fundamental design principles, like the balance, proportion, perspective, emphasis, movement, pattern, repetition, rhythm, variety, harmony, and unity take an important role into the conceptual design and implementation of every generative typeface.
GeneTypo (it stands for Generative Typographies) is a personal project I started in 2018. It basically consists of a collection of experimental generative typographies created through creative coding and computational creativity. Over these years I explored and implemented different algorithms to automatically (with no human intervention) design, mutate, animate and sometimes even destroy a typeface.
